The BRAS

Who we are?

BRAS Outaouais - Prévention et intervention en VIH et consommation sécuritaire
is a non-profit community organization that has been in existence since 1990.

BRAS operates in the Outaouais administrative region (07), including both urban and rural areas.  Its mission is to develop and promote community actions aimed at improving the quality of life of the Outaouais population in relation to HIV/AIDS.

Inclusion

Considering the individual as a whole and welcoming all people with openness, attentiveness, dignity and kindness

Social justice

Using community action to reduce social inequalities in health in vulnerable and marginalized communities

Collaboration

Working with community and institutional partners to achieve collective change for a more sustainable society

Power to act

Working to help people become more aware, strengthen their potential and transform themselves with a view to improving their quality of life.

Structure

The Annual General Meeting of members is held each year on a date set by the directors, traditionally on the second Thursday in June. The meeting is held to take stock of the corporation's achievements and financial situation.

This meeting adopts the financial statements and the auditor's or accountant's report. It elects the directors. It takes cognizance of and decides on any matter that may legally come before the members' meeting.

People living with HIV/AIDS and STBBIs, and all those affected by this reality, are at the heart of BRAS' actions. Beyond the activities and services offered, the team and members are committed to a democratic and inclusive movement that aims for equality, social justice and the ongoing revitalization of our society.

Board of Directors

They are elected by BRAS members at the Annual General Meeting. The BRAS Outaouais Board of Directors is made up of 10 members. Three seats are reserved for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and one seat for the employee representative.
